Ontario's new Workplace Harassment and Workplace Violence Legislation:Modeling Your Workplace for Compliance
One June 15, 2010 the Province of Ontario brought into force amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Act to deal with the long neglected issues of harassment and violence in the workplace.
This new legislation aims to protect employees in all businesses who fall under provincial control from workplace harassment, physical violence or threats.
It is now the legal obligation of any employer to assess any risk to the safety and security of its employees and to write and implement on an ongoing basis policies and procedures to deal with these issues.
If you would like assistance in complying with your obligations, please contact Donald F. Morris, our Employment Law Counsel for an initial consultation at dmorris@smithsfallslawyer.com or 613-283-0515.
